Accessibility
Last Updated: September 12, 2026
We want everyone who trains with Discovery Field Inspections (DFI) to be able to use this portal, including people who use a screen reader, screen magnification, voice control, or a keyboard instead of a mouse.
Our Goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most U.S. organizations follow.
What We've Done
- Pages can be used with a keyboard, and you can always see which item is selected.
- A "Skip to content" link lets you jump past the menu.
- Buttons, menus, and form fields have labels that screen readers announce.
- Text and backgrounds are checked against the contrast guidelines.
- Pages rearrange to fit phones and tablets.
- The lesson player works from the keyboard: Space plays and pauses, and the arrow keys move back and forth through the parts you've already played.
- Animations are turned down if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Every password box has a show/hide button, so you can check what you typed.
Known Limitations
- Some parts of the portal come from other companies: exams in ProProfs, some videos from YouTube or Vimeo, and slides in Microsoft's viewer. We can't fully control how accessible those are.
- Some older videos, audio, documents, and slide decks may not have captions, transcripts, or screen-reader tags yet.
- We are still updating some of the older administrator pages.
Need Help or Found a Problem?
If something is hard to use, or you need a lesson or document in a different format, tell us which page and what happened, and we'll work with you to get you what you need.
- Call the main office: (847) 281-5775. It's answered Monday through Friday, and you can leave a voicemail anytime.
- When you're signed in: Send us a message
How We Check
We test new pages using only a keyboard, check color contrast, and review the labels screen readers use. We'll keep reviewing the portal as we add to it.
